What Is a Pre-Authorization Charge?

Modified on Fri, 28 Nov at 2:02 PM

When signing up for Lingopie with certain prepaid or debit cards, you might notice a pre-authorization (or card verification check) process. Here’s what that means:

  • Card verification: Lingopie checks that the card used is valid and active.
  • Your account is not charged during the verification process. A small temporary hold may appear on your card, but once the check is complete, the amount is immediately released back to your account.
  • Bank notifications: You may see a pending charge on your bank statement — this is normal.
  • Free trial protection: You can cancel anytime before the 7-day free trial ends to avoid being charged.
